Why I am running

A Heart for Service. A Voice for Lincoln.

Hello, my name is Carrie Leyh, and I am running for Lincoln Town Council.

I am a redeemed child of God, the respected wife of a loving husband, and a hardworking citizen of the Town of Lincoln.

Since moving to Lincoln in April 2020, I have worked to participate in and support our community while working 12-hour night shifts at our local hospital.

Small-town community is dear to my heart. Our library and historical society, veterans and church groups, farmers' markets, craft fairs, community suppers, and neighbors helping neighbors are part of what makes Lincoln a community worth fighting for.

Community service has always been close to my heart. From Camp Fire Girls and Key Club to Kiwanis and many volunteer projects, I have been blessed with opportunities to serve others and help make my community a better place.

Why am I running?

With this service mindset, I am stepping up to serve the people of Lincoln—to be their voice on the Town Council and address the issues and concerns that matter to them.

My mission is to help make Lincoln a thriving community through fiscal responsibility and a town government that is open and accountable to its citizens.

Three clear priorities

Practical leadership for Lincoln

Focused on the fundamentals: affordability, accountability, and a community with a future.

PRIORITY 01

A thriving community...

Carrie wants Lincoln to be a safe, healthy, and welcoming community where children, working families, and seniors can build their lives and thrive. She will support local businesses, appropriate senior housing, and practical recreational opportunities - including trails and outdoor activities - that improve residents' quality of life and make Lincoln more attractive to families, visitors and future investment.

PRIORITY 02

Fiscal responsibility...

Carrie will work to lower the property-tax burden by controlling spending, carefully reviewing municipal services, and requiring every tax dollar to be justified. She will also pursue responsible sources of non-property-tax revenue, support economic development, and seek better use of Lincoln's existing properties and resources. Growth should strengthen the community and ease the burden on residents - not simply provide government with more money to spend.

PRIORITY 03

Transparency and accountability

Carrie will support completing Lincoln's overdue audits, correcting financial deficiencies, and establishing reliable systems for budgeting, reporting, and preserving important town records. Residents should be able to easily find and understand town expenses, contracts, major projects, and financial decisions. Town government must answer to the people it serves and demonstrate that public money is being managed responsibly.
